The Power of Yes !!!

By acknowledging ‘yes,’ we recognise the power in those three letters to give life to our desires.Often we reject opportunities that can have a life-changing effect. It is our fears and insecurities that limit favourable conditions finding their way to us.The word ‘yes’ is energising and has a metaphysical relationship tied to movement and energy. In comparison, ‘no’denotes inertia, motionless and fixedness.‘Yes’ is action oriented and creates momentum.

I would like to share a story here – once in a jungle there was a pregnant Lioness. One day while hunting for prey, she came across a small ravine and while jumping to cross the ravine, the baby cub dropped out from her womb into the bushes below. The lion cub was unhurt in the fall but a flock of sheep was passing through that ravine at the same time and the little one got merged into the flock. The lion cub kept walking among the sheep and grew up with them.During this time, the lion cub picked up all of the mannerisms of sheep like their walking, their food habits[herbivore],their fearfulness from predators and thereby forgot to roar. The lion cub also forgot his natural hunting instincts .He became one among the sheep flock and the sheep also accepted him as their own.The lion cub grew up to become a Barbary Lion in few years but his behavior remained that of a sheep.

Then one day,the flock of sheep encountered a real predator Barbary Lion in the jungle who knew that he is a Lion. The Barbary Lion was observing the flock and was surprised to find another Barbary Lion too among the flock and that this Lion was eating grass like his prey. So,the Barbary Lion attacked the flock and the entire flock along with the junior Lion started running helter-skelter for their lives. This perplexed the senior Lion and he decided to first understand this unnatural behavior of the junior Lion, pounced upon him and finally overpowered the junior Lion. The junior Lion seeing the Barbary Lion over him was shaking like a leaf, started crying like a sheep and struggled to free himself. The Barbary Lion let out a loud roar and this resonated into the junior Lion and  the junior Lion let out a roar himself. This made the junior Lion realize that all this while even though he being the king of the jungle-he was unknowingly living the fearful life of a sheep which was unbecoming of his true potential.By this story I would like to inspire you to unlock your true potential by being self-motivated and remind yourselves to be fearless like a Lion.

We often say ‘no’ to conditions out of our comfort zone due to our unworthiness or ability to seize the challenge. I would firmly recommend that we say ‘yes’ to opportunities and thereafter deliver on our commitment.‘Yes’ can be life transforming, since it unifies our desires and deepest intentions.“Whatever comes your way, accept it as it is and appreciate it for what it contributes to your life — say “yes” and “thanks.” We have to start believing that everything has a purpose and that we are here to learn lessons. We must break away from the survival mentality and advance toward empowering thoughts if we aspire to transform our lives.

Creativity-Vital for Success…

Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. One of the vital traits of successful people is that they have a creative bent of mind. Nothing could have been ever discovered / invented in this world if not for a creative human being using his/her out of the box thinking and sticking by their convictions. We can think of any name whosoever has been successful, any pioneer in their domain has been, because he/she was not afraid of thinking differently from their peers / times ;sometimes even against the common belief systems & perceptions. Creativity is characterised by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions.

We have all had those frustrating moments -when we were expected to come up with a brilliant new idea at workplace / in business, but no matter how much we scratch our brains, we just can’t seem to think of anything good. That’s when we look over at our peers who are the “creative types” and wonder why we didn’t inherit any of those creative genes ourselves. But it may be that we’re looking at it wrong. We know that in the current world of professionalism, everybody dreams of being creative but nobody talks or wants to work on the how part of it.Being creative/ideation is actually a skill that can be learned. And, as with any other skill, you can only get better at it with sheer practice.

The first and foremost method to develop creativity is to start thinking of the impossible. Now to think of the impossible,it is imperative to exclude logic and think unconventionally on a different tangent. The perfect example of thinking out of the box were-The Wright BrothersAmerican aviation pioneers credited with inventing, building & flying the world’s first successful airplane which revolutionized and opened new frontiers for travel, transportation and warfare. This invention was possible only because the human mind had the creative idea of flying like a bird which was historic and path breaking at that time and still is. Their invention became the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard which thereby ushered in the Aerial Era.

Hence,I would strongly advise to not to be afraid & think differently on which has never been thought before. This would definitely sow the seeds of creativity which would then with sustained practise- slowly germinate and fructify manifold in our minds making us the problem solvers.

Anger Management in our Lives…

Anger is a very powerful feeling that can happen when you are frustrated, hurt, annoyed, or disappointed. Anger can help or hurt you, depending on how you react to it. If you can react without hurting someone else, it can be a positive feeling. If you hold your anger inside, it can lead to passive-aggressive behavior like ”getting back” at people without telling them why or being critical and hostile. It is a normal human emotion that can range from slight irritation to strong rage. Knowing how to recognize and express these feelings in appropriate ways can help you handle emergencies, solve problems, and hold on to meaningful relationships.

Fear and rage are common to animals, too, because it helps them to fight and survive.Suppressed anger can be an underlying cause of anxiety and depression. Anger that is not appropriately expressed can disrupt relationships, affect thinking and behavior patterns, and create a variety of physical problems. Chronic (long-term) anger has been linked to health issues such as high blood pressure, heart problems, headaches, skin disorders, and digestive problems. In addition, aggravated anger can be linked to problems such as crime, emotional and physical abuse, and other violent behavior.

The key is to make your anger constructive.I would like to share a short story to further elaborate the point. There once was a rich businessman who had an engineer friend with whom he started a firm for constructing, designing and then selling houses. The finance part was pooled in by the businessman and the planning, designing and completion of the houses was the job of the engineer friend. The engineer was a master craftsman & a creative expert. Together as employer and employee, they built & sold many beautiful houses and this went on successfully for several years. Some years later, the businessman died due to a sudden illness and his young son had to take over the flourishing construction business. The son was very respectful of the his dad’s friend ; addressed him as Uncle and never treated the engineer as an employee. But still the engineer friend due to his perceived seniority was not liking the fact that henceforth he had to take instructions & orders from a young chap of just 22 years. The mental friction began building up between them and this was leading to suppressed anger in the mind of the engineer.

One fine day in a fit of rage, the engineer went to his new boss and said that he no longer was feeling fit due to his age and wanted to resign from his duties. The son was taken aback on hearing this decision of his uncle and respectfully requested the engineer to continue with his job as he was satisfied with the output. But the engineer seemed adamant to get retired and on seeing his intent, the son agreed to relieve him on one condition. The son pleaded with his uncle to take up a final assignment before retiring and that the engineer was to plan, design and build one last mansion for the company. Half-heartedly and still seething with anger, the engineer took up the last project of his professional life before hanging up his boots.
Even though the venture was his final one,the engineer was extremely angry about the entire episode and his heart was not in it.This absolute lack of interest was reflecting in his planning, craftsmanship, onsite manpower management and the mansion was finally completed. On the D-day ;the son with his entire staff visited the location but could see that the designing and construction of the mansion was very sub-standard with respect to the time taken to complete the same. He mentioned this in as many words to his uncle that the mansion was not built as per the immense talent & expertise that the engineer possesed. But the engineer was in no mood to take any feedback, he agitatedly said that he could no longer bear the insult and was resigning now and here.Hearing this, the son became teary eyed, handing over the keys of the mansion to the engineer, said in a choked voice that this mansion was the last token of gratitude that he wanted to gift the engineer for the devotion, craftsmanship & long years of service put in towards the firm. This action of the son jolted the engineer out of his anger / hatred towards his employer. The engineer now regretfully rued his action of deliberately constructing the worst quality house and that too for himself.

This instance helps to make us understand that the unrestrained, suppressed anger inside the engineer made him blind, loose his art, creativity, immense possibility towards craftsmanship. The human with his mind is capable of creating innumerable wonders but anger diminishes this quality. Hence,we should never take any decision when in anger. When you start feeling angry, try deep breathing, positive self-talk, or stopping your angry thoughts.Although expressing anger is better than keeping it in, there’s always a right way to do it. Try to express yourself clearly and calmly. Avoid using recreational drugs and drinking too much alcohol, which can make you less able to handle frustration.Learn how to laugh at yourself and see humor in situations.Having good listening skills can help improve communication and can build trusting feelings between people. This trust and faith can help you deal with potentially hostile emotions.

The Magic of Nature…

The magic of nature is one of the most important fundamental things in the Universe, because it is required for life to exist. Nature’s ways of creating things are very magical as it uses the power of imagination and thought to manifest energy into matter. For you to understand what I mean when I say the “magic of nature,” you will have to understand how nature creates life at the most fundamental levels. If we want to understand how the material world is created and what keeps it in a perpetual motion, we need to study the language of the living energy codes of matter, which is made of light, sound, frequency and vibration. Most of us know that the material world is made of matter, but we do not understand the mechanics behind it.

The significance of nature should be understood in this way that our biological mother keeps us for only 9 months in her womb but Mother Nature[planet Earth] thereafter nurtures us for the remaining of our lives till we reach our ends.We should think of and respect Mother Nature in the same way that we look after and protect our own biological mother.Mother Nature is the one who gives us air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, warmth, climatic changes causing seasons and the resources essential for the survival of our human race. But we humans have always considered this Planet Earth / Mother Nature as a material object to be used and not as a source of Creation. We should be pained on seeing exploitation of resources, deforestation and not leave the protection of Mother Nature in the hands of the government only. We need to become more sensitive & grateful towards our Mother Nature ;we should leave no stone unturned in protecting and maintaining the ecological balance Thereby,we would be filled with naturalistic wisdom and become responsible towards the source of all creation and existence.Currently we have become complacent and assume that since we humans are working hard, earning our livelihoods and creating comfortable lives. But the actual order and alignment can only be provided by the Existence / Mother Nature which conducts all the events and processes that cannot be created by humans.

I would like to share an incident from the life of Shivaji Maharaj to further explain the supremacy of the Existence over human efforts.Once he had come to meet his guru Swami Raamdas and upon being asked by his guru that how was everything and if the subjects were happy in his kingdom. To which Shivaji Maharaj replied in a boastful manner that under his able rule his subjects were very happy without any dearth of food, water and contentment.Being his guru,Swami Raamdas was quick to realize that this was an egoistic reply filled with false pride coming from Shivaji Maharaj. So,smilingly the Guru with his foot moved a nearby stone ; from underneath a small frog jumped away.To this the Guru asked Shivaji Maharaj that if his able rule was providing for this small frog also. On hearing this, Shivaji Maharaj understood his folly ; with tearful eyes he fell onto the feet of Guru Raamdas and begged for his forgiveness. His Guru further explained that it was only because of the Existence/Mother Nature that we as humans are able to live and enjoy the ample resources. We humans are mere facilitators ; the entire Existence is the actual creator & controller.

Improve Concentration through Meditation…

I would start by elaborating the literal meaning of the word Concentration -this is the ability to direct one’s attention in accordance with one’s will. It means control of the attention. It is the ability to focus the mind on one subject, object or thought, and at the same time exclude from the mind every other unrelated thoughts, ideas, feelings and sensations.

Concentration and meditation are two mental states of mind often confused with each other. Concentration relies on self-control and mind focusing. It usually involves a prolonged focus and consciousness of the mind. It involves the inner world (the person’s mind) and the outer world (the person’s environment). In the act of concentrating, there is the act of concentration on the object. There is also a limit on concentration. It has a start and a finished stage. Often concentration causes exhaustion and frustration, especially if the desired effect is not achieved. On the other hand, meditation is also a state of mind. Meditation is often the opposite of concentration. The nature of meditation is not an unfocused mind but an uncluttered mind. Unlike concentration, there is less or no brain activity when performing this function.
I would also mention here that the actual purpose of concentration is relaxation of our mind such that it may be emptied out of all vague thoughts and can thereby focus on the particular task at hand.
But if we just undertake an activity to concentrate onto a particular object / subject,we will start feeling strained and our eyes would start paining. So,the ideal way is of relaxation through meditation. This also ensures being stress free and maximum energy concentration for better & lasting memory.

Hereby, I would like to share a small activity for concentrating our energies internally which just takes few minutes of our time.Starting with your eyes closed,we need to inhale;keeping the breath inside,we need to start counting and then exhale only when we are no longer able to keep the breath inside.Thereafter, the second step is to exhale the breath ;start counting and inhale only when it becomes unbearable.Practice and repeat these two steps for 5 minutes daily and this would make certain that our inherent energies would start getting concentrated internally. The collated energies would then be within our control and at our disposal as per requirements. This technique allows our thoughts to be stable as well and I would like to name this state to be that of perfect Synchronisation / Alignment.

The secret for healthy relationships…

Healthy relationships with our partner and family members can enhance our life and make everyone feel good about themselves. They don’t just happen though; healthy relationships take time to build and need work to keep them healthy. The more positive effort that you put into a relationship, the healthier it would become.

I would share few instances that I have come across while interacting with the current generation. They keep complaining about being unable to cope up with their relationships. The challenge is that they have started to search for business opportunities within relationships. The new fad of Multi-Level Marketing, selling life insurance or inhouse business schemes has further complicated the already strained relations where people tend to make members out of their uncles/relatives for fringe monetary benefits. This trend has pushed the love out of our otherwise cordial relationships. We need to increase the feeling of bonding & love in our relations. The best thing would be to build lasting relations while doing our businesses. We should through our integrity and open communications- try and convert the customer in our businesses into our close confidante.Such a customer would then start to respect, love and support us.Hence,I would highly recommend you to develop relations within the business.

A real life example in the current scenario is the complaint of the new-age moms that their kid/children are not attached to them.Their grouse is that their kids have become self-centred and do not pay heed to motherly concern. The kids try to spend more time away from mothers and with their friends circle. This pains the mothers no end.I would like to mention here the analogy given in a lighter vein by a very famous personality that -earlier the mother’s used to wipe off the running nose of their kids with the loose end of their sarees and nowadays in contrast, the new-age mom would start searching for tissue papers on seeing the same.

I would like to share a small story to make you further understand the above concept- One day,Rukmani asked Lord Krishna that between his two sisters namely;Subhadra and Draupadi, what made him more attached to Draupadi. Rukmani mentioned that she knew very well that Lord Krishna loved them both equally, but the Lord was all praise for Draupadi always. On hearing this, the Lord asked Rukmani to follow him as he first reached the palace, intentionally pricked his index finger and it started bleeding. The Lord called out to Subhadra to come fast and see that his finder was bleeding. On seeing this, Subhadra panicked ; started running around & calling out her servants to rush along with first-aid to attend to the bleeding finger. Soon after, Lord Krishna moved to the adjacent room of Draupadi and on seeing the bleeding finger of the Lord, without losing a moment, she tore a piece of cloth from her saree and immediately bandaged the finger with it to stop the blood flow.Rukmani witnessed both the events and said that now she clearly had understood why Draupadi was more close to the Lord.

Hence, to build and sustain healthy relationships,we should invest our time, appreciate others efforts, develop our people skills, love unconditionally,be empathetic and avoid gossiping.People who have healthy relationships are more likely to feel happier and satisfied with their lives.
